What is recorded here

On the E floodplain of a small tributary of the river Nore. A medieval settlement (KK019-135----) lies c. 20m to the E. Excavated in 2007 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme (Licence no. E3734). The badly ploughed out remains of a burnt mound (comprising heat-cracked stone and charcoal-rich soil) a possible trough and two pits. Two artefacts – a flint end scraper from the burnt mound and a barbed and tanged arrowhead from a secondary context - confirm a Bronze Age date. (Devine and Kealy 2009; Devine 2010) Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 12 November 2013
