What is recorded here

In St Francis' Abbey (KK019-026101-). A portion of a limestone graveslab (L 0.29m; Wth 0.43m; D 0.14m) with both sides, which are chamfered, surviving. It is decorated with an incised cross. Only portion of the cross-shaft, and what appears to be the upper part of a circular knop, survive. The latter probably indicates that this is towards the base of the cross-shaft, with a circular knop above the terminal decoration. It is similar in design to another graveslab (KK019-026521-) from the abbey where the cross-shaft is terminated by a circular knop above a fleur-de-lis, though in latter case the decoration is in relief rather than incised.     Compiled by: Jean Farrelly
