What is recorded here

In the OPW store, Kilkenny (Kilkenny depot stone carving number: KD012). A sandstone tapering pillar (L 0.67m; roughly square in section Wth 0.18-0.2 x 0.22-0.25m), probably part of a composite piece, the top of which is broken. It is roughly dressed with carving in false relief on the upper portions two sides. One side consists of a blank panel (Wth 0.075m) within a raised border (Wth 0.04m). The other side, within a similar raised border, has two raised triangles (L 0.13m) (each with a triangular piece in the centre carved out) with short bases connecting it to the lower edge of the panel. Above these, along the dexter side there is a raised rectangle (L 0.19m), the rectangular centre of which is carved out. There is a simple horizontal fret border above this and the base of another design is just visible where the stone has been broken.
