In the OPW store, Kilkenny (Kilkenny depot stone carving number: KD005). A rectangular sandstone block (L 0.74m; Wth 0.35m; D 0.12m) which has been broken in half, the back is missing. The stone is decorated with a carved panel (L 0.64m; Wth 0.26m), defined by a plain moulding. A portion of the narrow side of the panel (Wth 0.08m) adjacent to the border is undecorated. The remaining panel is decorated with incised spirals, consisting of four interconnecting rows of 6-7 spirals. It is similar to a panel on the south face of Muiredach’s cross, Monasterboice, though on the Monasterboice panel the spirals are in high relief (Crawford 1980, 15, Plate XVII, no. 18).
