What is recorded here

A circular enclosure (int. diam. c. 60m; overall diam. c. 80m) indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1900 revision. The cartographic evidence suggests that the interior was enclosed by a fosse and outer bank. The outer bank in the S sector may be incorporated in a field boundary which runs roughly E-W along the S edge. The monument was levelled in 1959 at the same time as a trapezoidal-shaped enclosure (KK018-047----) which lies c. 20m to the NE. The relationship between the monuments is unclear, though physically associated they may not be contemporary, or the trapezoidal enclosure, classified as a moated site by Barry (1977, 186), may have functioned as a bailey for the adjacent enclosure, in which case a ringwork and bailey classification would be more appropriate. Though levelled, the remains of the monument are visible on satellite imagery (Digitalglobe, viewed 7 July 2020) and it appears that the circular enclosure has a further outer bank and fosse which abuts the trapezoidal enclosure.
