What is recorded here

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 498), in Boggan townland, 'there is a well called Tubber na Cruchthanee, or, as the old people explain the name, Well of the Holy Cross'. O'Kelly (1985, 28) also mentions this well, calling it, 'Tobar na Croiche Naoi (Naofa), holy cross well' and adds that, 'local inhabitants say "there are three holy wells in Boggan". The precise location of the Holy Cross well is unknown within the townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 6 May 2020

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
