What is recorded here

On the SW side of a hillock standing above rolling grassland. According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 280-81), the old parish church of Kilkieran, 'dedicated, presumably, to St. Kieran of Ossory, stood on the roadside, to the left, as one goes from Carrigeen to Sandfordcourt. It was destroyed long ago and not a trace of it now remains'. There is a graveyard (KK015-007002-) associated with the church. There is no visible trace of the church at ground level. This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
