Set in a slight hollow on an undulating terrace in reclaimed grassland. Good visibility to the E. A substantially intact cashel (int. diam. 16m; overall diam. 29m; wall T 6.5m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1.7-2m). The outer face has been robbed (collapsed) leaving a sloping pile of stone rubble. Entrance at E (Wth 0.55m) faced with carefully coursed slabs. A pair of small corbels project from the entrance passageway 0.6m from the interior at a height of 0.2-0.3m. These may have held some sort of barrier. A possible cashel (KK015-002001-) is conjoined to the NE. Known locally as Butler's Folly and said to have been built by James Butler in earlier 19th century. Not evident on the OS 6-inch 1st ed. maps.
