What is recorded here

According to Doyle (1981) there was, ‘a second rath in the northern part of Loughmeran, near Dunmore [Holy Trinity, RC] Church. This rath was situated on a high sandy mound in an area of rough ground beside the railway line. The line is there no longer, and the entire area has been taken over by a concrete firm. The rath and its mound were taken away as gravel. I am told that up to the time of its removal it was in good condition’ (NMI topographical files). The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
