On the valley floor, in wet pasture. There are good views across the valley in all directions. An underground drystone-built structure discovered during ploughing in April 1960 (OPW topographic file). It is described as, ‘a large stone-build trench…Thick flag-stones were laid on top of each other forming a flat vertical face on the inside, the outside face was uneven as far as we could see and the wall was formed of a single course of stones. The capstones were laid edge-to-edge, resting on the walls and not projecting far beyond them. The open end of the trench was rounded by not very carefully stone lines, as far as could be seen the other end was similar and the trench terminated there’ (ibid.). It seems the intention was to infill the feature with stones and clay (ibid.). It is not visible at ground level.
