Carrigan (1905, 2, 371) records a chimney-piece removed from Tubbrid castle (KK013-033001-) bearing the date 1596 in relief as being located in, 'an unoccupied house, on the roadside, opposite Tubrid church'. located in a roadside house. The only house indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and 1900 revision is located c. 140m NNE of Tubbrid church. When inspected in 1987 the chimney-piece was concealed behind a modern fireplace. The lintel has subsequently been returned to the castle (c. 2016) and has restored to the third-floor fireplace.
