The Down Survey (1655-6) barony map of Crannagh (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin), depicts a large house in 'Ballidowell' townland, W of the Arigna River. Three other houses (KK013-097002-) are indicated along the E side of the river. The proprietor in 1640 is noted as, 'Countess of Ormond P[ro]testant'. The precise location of this house is unknown within Ballydowel Big townland. See attached extract from Down Survey (1655-6) barony map of Crannagh (Hib. Reg., courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
