On the S side of a valley, on gently sloping land just below the crest of slope, in reclaimed grassland. There are very good views except to the S where the land is rising. Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and 1900 revision. On the 25-inch OS map it is indicated as a large circular enclosure (overall diam. c. 56m). Though levelled, the monument (inner enclosure diam. c. 38m) is visible on ASI aerial photographs (ASIAP (230) 7-10, 14 March 2001; ASIAP (413) 34-6, 18 October 2003) and on Digitalglobe satellite imagery (viewed 18 March 2020) with an inner and outer fosse, c. 10m apart.
