Graveyard in Kyleballynamoe

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 257-8), the church or 'cill' (kyle) referred to in the townland name of Kyleballynamoe, 'was situated in Mr. John Julian's land, on a hillock some 20yds. west of the Nuenna river. About 1830, all that remained of it, a single gable, was taken down, and the materials were used to fill a great well beside it, called Tubberkilleen (Well of the Little Church). There was a graveyard around the church, but scarcely a trace of it is to be seen there now'. It is probable that the large spring well indicated on the OS maps S of the river in the northern portion of the townland may be the well referred to by Carrigan. It is located in the flat flood plain of the river, though the ground level rises steeply immediately S of the well. There is no visible trace of a church or graveyard (KK013-008002-). There is a strip of tree plantation along the S bank of the river at this point, though a buffer zone (c. 50m) has been kept clear of trees around the well.
