The terrier accompanying the Down Survey (1655-6) Parish map of Tubrid refers to ‘a Castle and some Cabbins at Garryhiggin’. The precise location of these houses with the townland is unknown, however, the field associated with the tower house (KK012-05501-) is locally known as 'street field' which may be a folk memory of settlement in the vicinity of the tower house.
