What is recorded here

On E bank of small river valley in gently rolling terrain, under tillage and pasture. The OS Letters (1839) refer to, 'a large spring well about a furlong [c. 200m] to the west of Art an Fhiona in the same Townland, which the people know as Tobar Patraig, i.e., Patrick's Well. It has no character for sanctity, nor is it held in more veneration than other springs' (O'Flanagan ed. 1930, vol. 1, 109 (36)). It is also mentioned by Carrigan (1905, 366). The spring survives as a silted-up pond. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 15 May 2019
