According to O'Kelly (1969, 42), there is 'one small rath' in Scanlansland townland. There is no indication of an enclosure in this townland on the 1st (1839) OS 6-inch map or subsequent 1947 revision. If O'Kelly's information is correct, the 'rath' is not located within the townland.
