What is recorded here

In a gentle E-facing slope, before land falls steeply to valley floor and the Dinin river which is c. 400m to the E. There are good views to the E and S but the view is impeded to the N and W by rising ground. There are two springs immediately S of the moated site. Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as a rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 30m NNW-SSE; c. 15m E-W) but not shown on the subsequent 1947 revision where the field boundaries have altered slightly. The monument may have been levelled when the field boundary which was immediately N of the monument was removed and another WNW-ESE field boundary inserted slightly S of this, possibly cutting across the N portion of the monument. It is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 5 December 2018
