What is recorded here

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 335), the 'first chapel of which there is any tradition, stood about 60 perches [330m] from Lisdowney village, up the hill, on the road leading to Knockmannan. Its site is still pointed out in the "Priest's Garden," a field belonging to Patrick Holohan. This chapel continued in use down to about 1790'. This chapel is unlocated within the townland. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
