Just above transition from valley to hillside, at the end of a terrace along Rathlogan river valley, in rolling grassland. There are commanding views over the Rathlogan and Goul river valleys. A church (KK008-082001-) and graveyard (KK008-082002-) are located immediately ENE of the ringfort. A circular raised area (max. diam. 41m) enclosed by a bank (Wth 1-2m on E side, 9m on W side; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.6-4m highest in the W-NW), external fosse (Wth 3-4m; D 0.8m) at E and terrace at W, and an outer bank (Wth at top 1.3m; overall Wth 4.3m; ext. H 0.8m) from SSW-NW. There is stone protruding from the grass-covered outer bank which has been quarried out at the N, where a limekiln was located, and is degraded in the E and S sectors. There are two large hollows in the interior, one in the NW and one is the SW quadrant, supposedly the location of collapsed caves, possibly a souterrain (KK008-081001-). According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 298) the monument, known as 'Ráth [Ua] Leocháin, or Rath of the O'Leochans', was partially levelled in 1846. This was possibly as a result of quarrying for the limekiln.
