On the W side of the S end of slight N-S ridge, with land dropping steeply to E, in rolling grassland. There are good views in all directions. A semi-circular area (int. dims. 26m N-S; 20m E-W) enclosed by low earthen bank (Wth 1.5-2m; int. H 0.1-0.6m; ext. H c. 2.4m) from N-W-S, external terrace forming fosse (Wth 2.5-4m; D 1-1.5m) and outer bank (Wth 1.5-2m; ext. H 1-1.5m). The E bank of the monument is levelled, possibly quarried as indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map. Four field boundaries run up to the monument, from all cardinal points.
