What is recorded here

Just below crest of hill on a N-facing slope in gently undulating terrain, in rough pasture. There are good views in all directions except upslope to the S. A circular enclosure (diam. 28.35m N-S; 30.1m E-W) defined by a bank (Wth at crest 1.3-1.4m; overall Wth 2.9-4.5m; int. H 0.3-0.8m; ext. H 0.9-1.2m) and wide, flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 2.4m; D 0.45m). The bank has a very high stone content in places, consisting of small boulders and large stones in a clay matrix. The fosse is evident in SW-S-SE sector, with stone defining the outer edge of the fosse. There is also a slight fosse in the W quadrant where there is a possible entrance (Wth c. 1.8-2m) with a slight causeway (H 0.25m) over the fosse. There is a hawthorn tree growing in the N side of entrance. There are hawthorn trees growing around the complete circuit of the bank. The interior is flat and grass-covered.
