What is recorded here

On the northern edge of the River Goul valley, where the land is beginning to rise, in rolling pasture and tillage. There are fair views across valley in all directions. Roughly centrally placed within a sub-rectangular graveyard (KK008-017002-). A simple, rectangular structure (L c. 16m, Wth c. 6.5m) aligned roughly E-W. At time of inspection in 1987 the church interior was overgrown with trees and bushes and the walls totally obscured by thick ivy growth. According to the OS Letters (1839) only the W gable and the side walls were upstanding, the latter at the W end to a height of 'eight feet six inches' [c. 2.6m] (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 114 (38)). According to O'Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 279), 'The walls are 3ft. [0.9m] thick, and are built of very rough stones. The door and windows have been all broken away'.
