What is recorded here

Listed in the SMR (1987) and RMP (1996) as ‘Earthwork (s)’. Earthworks were identified on an aerial photograph (GSI), however, there are no clearly defined earthworks visible on the aerial photograph where there is also a lot of scrub. The fields are indicated on the OS 6-inch 1900 revision as an area of rock outcrop and were described as such when inspected in June 1987 (Richard Ivens, annotated on working SMR 6-inch OS map/field map). The area has since been planted with forestry. However, also annotated on the field map is an 'x' indicated as a possible stone enclosure. This enclosure is within the forestry buffer zone and has not been planted. The area is overgrown with grassy hummocks. There is no indication at ground level of the enclosure.
