What is recorded here

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 105), 'Cushlawn O’Meeachawn or the castle of the O’Meehans, stood on Ballinalacken hill, to the east of Cromwell’s road. Only a heap of stones marks the site. The place is believed to be a favourite resort of the “good people.” That it is wild, desolate and fiercely wind-swept there can be no question’. The precise location of this castle is unknown. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
