According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 161), 'An old road, still traceable near Firoda School House, ran in ancient times from Ballinakill, through Loughill, Firoda Upper, and thence to Castlecomer, Kilkenny and Kells'. The precise location of this road is unknown.
