What is recorded here

In flat undulating lowland, in pasture. A sub-oval enclosure (dims. c. 50m NE-SW; c. 40m NW-SE) identified by geophysics (Nicholls 2017 unpublished Geophysical report; Deery and Crowley 2017 unpublished EIS) carried out in advance of a proposed solar farm. One of a number of enclosures (KK004-043----; KK004-044----; KK004-045----; KK004-047----; KK004-048----; KK004-049----; KK004-050----; KK004-052-; KK004-053---- and KK004-054----) identified in the vicinity by geophysics. There is a possible entrance in the SE quadrant though there is no clear break in the enclosing element. The enclosure is defined by a straight side along the N and W sectors with a curving bank along the S and SE sectors. The E edge of the enclosure has been truncated by a later field boundary running NW-SE. There is an outer enclosing element roughly parallel to the N and S sides, but it is not present to the W. There is a possible break/entrance in the NW angle. Within the enclosure, at the E end, there are two roughly parallel linear features running northward from the S side of the enclosure, both appear to terminate before reaching the N side. The monument is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 September 2018
