What is recorded here

On a slight N-S ridge within the Goul river valley with good views across undulating grasslands of valley floor. The land drops quite steeply to a small stream to the E. Many of the adjacent fields reclaimed and some cultivated. Circular area (int. diam. 50m) enclosed by an earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1m; overall Wth 2.5m), an external fosse (Wth 2.5m; D c. 0.2m) and intermittent outer bank (overall Wth 2.5m; int. H c. 0.6m; ext. H c. 0.2m). Modern quarry holes in N and E sides of otherwise level interior. The E quarry has been largely infilled. No visible original entrance. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 27 January 2016
