In marshy land on a valley floor. Associated with the castle (KK003-004001-) and bawn (KK003-004002-) of Castletown. In 1548, Richard Archdeacon, also called McCode [Cody] , was involved in a suit against Baron John Grace, concerning the manor town of Castletown, in Galmoy (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 285-6). Aerial photographs (CUCAP, AIG 22, 23) taken in 1963 indicate a number of linear earthworks in the field immediately S and W of the castle and bawn. Some of these may be related to drainage activity, however, some may relate to the medieval settlement at Castletown.
