What is recorded here

In rough pasture, on a N-facing slope overlooking the valley of the Drimminboy River. Collapsed drystone walls (T c. 0.6m; H 0.8m) meander throughout an area measuring c. 240m SW-NE x c. 200m NW-SE. The lower course stones protrude above the surface of the bog. Many stones are set upright and at right angles to the line of the wall. Breaks occur in the field walls throughout the area. Two hut sites (KE111-004002-, KE111-004005-) are within this network of field walls. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
