Field system in Glanrastel

In rough pasture, on a gentle S-facing slope on the N bank of the Glanrastal River. Stretches of relict field wall, covering an area c. 80m E-W by c. 40m N-S, protrude above the blanket bog. A linear N-S wall (L 19m) emerges from the bog, 15m due N of the river, and extends in a N direction to join the approximate centre of an E-W curvilinear wall at N. At 8m from the S end of the linear wall, another curvilinear wall (L 23m) branches off to the NE and joins the E end of the E-W curvilinear wall at N. A further stretch of wall emerges from the bog 12m W of the linear wall and continues in SW direction for 38m. The relict walls (T c. 0.6m) are generally in a collapsed state, with only the tops of the lower course stones protruding (H 0.45m) above the ground level. Some stones are upright and set at right angles to the line of the wall. At irregular intervals the walls disappear into deeper bog and re-appear where the bog is shallower.
