What is recorded here

In rough, gorse-covered pasture, on a S-facing slope, directly S of the Lehid-Kilmakilloge road. An oval cairn (5m N-S; 4m E-W; H 0.95m) comprising stones of various shapes and sizes. The smaller stones predominate at the top. The outer limits of the cairn are obscured by a dense growth of gorse. According to a local person, stones were added to this cairn by passers-by in the past. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
