A correspondent, whose initials were J.L. (probably John Lecky), described in 1853 a 'water worn fragment of clay slate, bearing a rude likeness to the human form, which the peasantry call Eevan' which he saw 'perched on the summit of a limestone rock' in the grounds of a house in Kenmare (KE093-131----) (Anon. 1913, 102). The correspondent noted that the original location of the stone, which was 'regarded with reverence as the image of some saint', was in or near Killmakillogue graveyard (KE108-002----) and in the 'same immediate neighbourhood' as a standing stone (KE108-028----) (ibid.). The stone was removed from its original location in 1846 and seen by the correspondent in Kenmare in 1847 and again in 1853 (ibid.). Its present location is not known.
