What is recorded here

In rough hill pasture, on a S-facing rocky slope, overlooking a river valley. The remains of an oval hut site (3.6m E-W; 2.4m N-S) defined by a drystone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.3m) which protrudes above the surface of the bog. Two boulders and an upright stone are incorporated in the wall NNW-NE. The S portion of the interior is raised (H 0.6m) to compensate for the hillslope. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
