What is recorded here

In level pasture, with views N over Kenmare Bay. According to local information, the earth and stone bank of a rath was levelled here in the 1930s. It is not visible at ground level. This is the rath recorded in Patrick Sullivan's land in the 1940s (SMCK) and also probably one of the 'two lisses' (see KE100-027001-) recorded by Capt. D. B. O'Connell in the 1930s in the townland (KAS). There is a possible souterrain (KE101-034001-) in the interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
