What is recorded here

Lecky (1914-16, 52) refers to 'a long row of stones (boulders, not slabs) presumably an avenue to Templenakilla [church KE098-048001-] from the cromlech [KE098-082----]' at Baslickane. The avenue is described by Barrington (1976, 285) as 'an irregular avenue of small boulders running south and west ending at another boulder near the boundary wall of the field to west south west; this leads to pillar stones on the edge of the cliff above Pouleragh'. Following inspection of the area, no such boulders were identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
