What is recorded here

The remains of this house, of drystone construction, are located just above the S shore of the island, close to its E end. It is of rectangular plan, measuring 5.6m N-S x 5.05m E-W internally. Only the foundations of the S wall survive, but the remaining walls average .95m thick and stand to an average height of 1.15m. In the N wall are the remains of two niches. The above description is derived from O'Sullivan, A. and Sheehan, J. (compilers) 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University press. (1996), no. 974. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 18 June 2013
