What is recorded here

The remains of this hut are located close to the island's shore, 76m SSW of St Finan’s Cell (KE098-039009-). They consist of the sod-covered foundations of a rectangular building, which measures 6.85m NE-SW x 6.08m NW-SE internally. The walls are of horizontally coursed drystone construction and average 1.6m thick. No entrance is evident. Two field boundaries traverse the structure, in which a portion of a quern was found (KCM 1992:34). The above description is derived from O'Sullivan, A. and Sheehan, J. (compilers) 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University press. (1996), no. 974. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 18 June 2013
