New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Grousemount, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. The remains of a probable rectangular hut site consisting of two parallel dry-stone walls, aligned WSW-ENE. Located c.5m southeast of NICH18 and c.30m southeast of NICH17 at ITM grid co-ordinate 509477, 571226. Southern wall measures 3m in length, northern wall is slightly shorter measuring 2.4m in length and curves inwards to the south at its western end. This may be the remnants of a western end wall. At the eastern end there are no wall remnants. The external measurements of the feature are 3.3m WSW-ENE by 3m ESE-WNW, which encloses an internal area measuring 3m by 2m. The average height of the walls is 0.5m and they have an average width of 0.65m. The site is largely obscured by rush growth. See attached photograph courtesy John Cronin.
