New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Coolnagoppoge, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. The remains of a possible hut site or a possible structure platform were identified to the immediate south of the existing small farm track and to the north of the proposed new access road in Coolnagoppoge townland at ITM Grid Co-ordinate 507432, 571477. The site comprises an arc of loose drystones, 5m in width at its southern extent, which define a raised area, containing further stones, to the north. An additional line of east to west orientated stones evident 2.4m north of the southern extent of the feature may represent an enclosing element of a hut structure. However, further stones are evident to the north of these within the 5m wide raised area, which measures 6m to 7m in length (north to south) in total. The feature may represent a platform associated with a larger structure. A sporadic alignment of larger stones to the immediate west of the feature may represent the remains of an old boundary, occasional larger stones are also evident surrounding the raised area, particularly to its south.
