What is recorded here

Within an enclosure (KE093-02701-) which is overgrown with trees and undergrowth. Numerous low grass-covered mounds and upright stone grave-markers are mostly concentrated in the W half of the interior of the enclosure. According to Dennehy (1997, 146), these markers are of sandstone with quartz veins and there are quartz pebbles scattered across the site. A larger rectangular grass-covered mound (3.4m E-W; 2m N-S; H 0.4m) occurs near the E end of the interior of the enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
