Liss/Lios: This site was located on a natural rise in an area of marshy ground overlooking Kenmare Bay to S. On the first edition of the OS map it is shown as a circular enclosure, but on the second edition it is marked 'site of’. There is now no trace of the enclosure, referred to as a 'fort with a cave (KE092-031----) in it' in the OSNB (Templeno, 42).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 649. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
