Indicated — Derrynagree

This pre-bog complex is located on a triangular shelf of peat-covered land, on the S side of Knocknagantee. A number of walls, both linear and curvilinear, run approxiately N-S. They are composed of boulders and upright slabs and average 1m high and .6m wide. One wall disappears beneath the peat at its S end, but it can be traced for a further 100m. Towards the W side of the complex, a 200m stretch of wall, its midsection overlain by peat, runs in a gentle arc. Running at right angles between these two is a 20m stretch of wall which joins a third, meandering, intermittent N-S wall. Six circular enclosures, crudely built and surviving only to two courses high, are found scattered throughout the complex. They range from 3m to 10m in internal diameter and may be related to the walls. Some more recent sheepfolds also occur in the vicinity of the site. The above description is derived from A.
