Children's Burial Ground within KE090-005: This site is located in rough pasture almost midway between Lough Derriana and Lough Namona, at the head of the Cummeragh river valley. Subrectangular in plan, it measures 28.8m N-S x 49m E-W internally and is enclosed by a low rubble wall that is faced externally with coursed drystone masonry. This wall averages .8m in external height and 1.4m in basal width. An inturning of the wall-face at SW may indicate the location of the original entrance. A portion of the wall at E appears to have been rebuilt and a substantial amount of field clearance abuts it externally at NW. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 935. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 July 2013
