What is recorded here

In overgrown pasture. A roughly rectangular area (28m NW-SE; 24m NE-SW) enclosed by earth and stone field boundaries. According to local information, this area is known as a ceallúnach and was used as a children's burial ground in the past. Uninscribed stone grave-markers are largely hidden by long grass. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
