A modern house occupies the site of the circular enclosure depicted at this location on the first edition of the OS map. Local memory recalls the former existence of a rath here. This is probably the site titled 'Gurtatuggart Fort'/ Gort an tSagairt in the OSNB, where it is described as an 'earthen fort about one chain in diameter' (Prior, 59).
