What is recorded here

On the S-facing slope of Bray Head. This track crosses the bank and ditch of Field K (see Mitchell, Hayden and Walsh n.d., fig. 22), it swerves to avoid a long earthen feature of unknown function and then divides into two branches. One branch runs SE towards the 'Crompeol' settlement and the other continues to the W towards the bay of Dunganmore Head where it joins 'Bóthar na Scairte' (KE087-097----).'Bóthar na Iarthair' has been suggested as a name for this track (ibid.). The construction date of this road has not been established. (Mitchell, Hayden and Walsh n.d.) Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 30 May 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
