What is recorded here

This site, known locally as a ceallúnach , is located on sloping pasture close to the S shore of Portmagee Channel. It consists of a rectangular platform, 14.6m N-S x 24.5m E-W, and is raised on average .35m above surrounding ground level. The interior of the site contains up to thirty upright slabs, most of which are clustered towards its W half. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1039. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 July 2013
