Field boundary in Mangerton

In rough hill pasture, on the N and S banks of the Owbaun River, on the SW-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain. A N-S section of wall (T 0.6m; H 0.4m) on the N bank of the river extends to the S for a distance of c. 25m, towards the river. Another wall is situated immediately opposite this on the S bank of the river. This wall extends to the SE and skirts to the W of conjoined hut sites (KE084-043001-, KE084-043005-). It then veers to the SE past a single hut site (KE084-043002-) that lies to the NE of the wall. The wall turns to the E, passing by another hut site (KE084-043003-) to the S. It then turns to the NE and continues in this direction for c. 200m until it meets the S bank of the river again, further upstream. The collapsed drystone walls are defined by intermittent upright stones. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
