What is recorded here

In rough hill pasture, on the S-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain. A N-S section of field wall extends downslope for a distance of c. 50m between two terraced areas to the N and S. The collapsed drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.3m), which protrudes above the surface of the bog, consists of some upright slabs set at right angles to the line of the wall. Loose stones are scattered at either side of the wall. A hut site (KE084-023012-) adjoins the W side of the field wall. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
